<div itemprop="description"><br />OLIVER, Joan Lorainne (n&eacute;e Baumgartner) <br /> <br />With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Joan on Saturday, October 3, 2015 surrounded by her family at the age of 59 after a 16 year battle with cancer. Beloved wife and best friend of Larry for 37 years. Loving mother of Christopher and his wife Jennifer, Kate and her boyfriend Shawn May, and her loyal canine companion, Walter. Daughter of Leo (2007) and Joyce (2008) Baumgartner. Sister of John Baumgartner and his wife Alison. Daughter-in-law of Murray (2013) and Jean Oliver, sister-in-law of William (2008) and Sherry (2004) Oliver, and Gord and Shari Oliver. Aunt to Chad and Chelsea Oliver. <br /> <br />Always supportive and a comforting figure to so many people, Joan was a dedicated and faithful employee of St. Clair College Library for over 21 years. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, and treasured her time with family and friends at the family cottage. <br /> <br />With thanks to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre for the compassionate care over the many years from Dr. Kenneth Schneider, Dr. Yasmin Alam and Dr. Amin Kay, along with Dr. Kay&rsquo;s nurse, Kim, and all of the nurses in the chemotherapy suite. Her trusted long-time family physician, Dr. Charlene Johnston, was instrumental and further exemplary care was provided by Dr. Syed Anees, Dr. Nicole Freeman, Tracey and the ProResp team, and Kateri from ParaMed. <br /> <br />Words cannot express the gratitude for Jane Coulter, her lifelong friend and nurse at the cancer centre, who has been a guardian angel to Joan and the family. <br /> <br />Visitation will be held at Victoria Greenlawn Funeral Home, 1525 Highway #3, Oldcastle (519-969-3939) on Monday, October 5th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 6th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. At Joan&rsquo;s request, a private funeral and burial will take place afterwards.
